Dr. Rifa J. El-Khozondar is an associate professor at the physics department at Al-Aqsa University. She has earned her B.Sc. in physics from Birzeit Universiy at Palestine in 1986. She has received her M.Sc. in physics in 1996 and her Ph. D. in computational material science in 2002 from New Mexico State University in the USA. Her research work is a challenging multidisciplinary involving material science (grain growth), numerical methods (Monte Carlo Potts model), and geophysics (Earth’s evolution). Additional vital contributions on optical fiber sensors, metamaterial applications, nonlinear transmission lines, photovoltaic cells, and data mining techniques. She has attended several national and international conferences. She also has been awarded several scholarships including the regular associate award of ICTP, the DAAD short study visit, and the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung scholarship.
